Getting applause
is not the same as getting hired
Your signature talk should be one of your biggest lead-generating assets.
Instead, audiences applaud, tell you they loved it… and then crickets.
In The Speaker Clinic we redesign your signature talk so people don’t just understand your ideas. They experience what it’s like to work with you.
So when the talk ends, they come find you.
4 x 60-min online sessions, with rework in between.
Or a one day in-person intensive.
£1,200. (rising to £1,500 on 19th September)

Established, Credible, Booked
You keep hearing that speaking is the holy grail.
But the truth is more complicated.
You’re good. You know your onions. You’re getting the gigs.
Then you walk off stage, and all the energy of the room barely makes it to the coffee break, let alone your inbox.
I hear this a lot, and it is not your fault.
You’re not lacking confidence, you’re not short on competence. All you need is the design.
Nobody ever showed you what to do with a room once you have it.
You know the moment
Your point is landing, you can feel everyone in the room with you….then you see it coming down the line, that familiar tightness in the chest, the catch in the throat, ah-hem, here’s my QR code.
All the effort of writing your talk, polishing it, choosing the perfect outfit, the travel, the nerves, the adrenaline and then the only ones who follow up the freebie hunters.

Now picture the alternative:
You reach that same moment, and there is no tightness, no catch, no shrinking, cos when designed properly, you don’t even need the QR code.
They’ve experienced something they can’t stop thinking about.
You step off stage and your phone’s already pinging.
It’s the end of the ick.
You can’t read the label from inside the jar
Actors have directors.
Authors have editors.
Olympians have coaches.
Somewhere along the way we decided that an established speaker has outgrown an outside eye.
You wrote the talk. You rehearsed it. You deliver it. But you can’t see what it’s like from the other side of the stage.
That is the eye I bring to your Signature Talk.
A director sits out front and guides what the audience experiences. Where they lean in, where attention drifts, what needs honing, what needs cutting.
Then we rehearse til it comes alive…

“Marnie is a star with witty charm and no-nonsense charisma.
Any of us would be lucky to be in her class, at her party or on her board.
Because we would learn a lot, enjoy ourselves and simply get things done better, under her watchful eye and direction.”
Sir Ian McKellen, Actor
Harness the Together Effect™️
There’s a crackle of energy, an alchemy, that happens when humans gather that cannot be replicated by a screen – I call that The Together Effect. Harnessing the Together Effect is the next level of speaking on stages.
For many years, I performed in dinner shows. The audience has a meal and the drama unfolds around them. Mostly, I played Sybil Fawlty – walking out to a room of strangers for two and a bit hours. All created in that moment, just the actors, the audience and whatever happened. It was chaotic, exhilarating and I loved every moment. People used to ask how I did it without a script. But the secret is I didn’t need one.
I had 3 things instead:
Character
I knew exactly who she was, and I owned it.
When you know who you are in a room, you don’t need the lines – you have freedom to be alive in the moment.
Story
I knew the shape of the night, where we were heading, The structure gave us a pathway.
Build the gift they leave with whether they ever work with you or not.
Audience
I invited them to participate. Creating a moment together, with everyone else in that room.
“This can’t happen if you’re not here”.
What We’ll do together
Redesign one existing Signature Talk
Start to finish. You should already have a baseline: the talk, the room you give it to, and what you want them to do next.
One: Character
Define who you are in the room, so you can put the script down and be present.
Two: Story
Clarify what your audience really needs to leave with, and shape your talk around that gift.
Three: Audience and Participation
Work with the room rather than presenting to it.
Together we’ll design a participatory moment that has your audience experience what it’s like to work with you
Four: The Close and Rehearsal
Bring everything together so your talk finishes with momentum. Then you deliver it and I direct it, the way an actor gets a note before opening night.
Between each session you rework and bring it back. That is where it beds in.
The Intensive
One day, in person, covering the same ground in a single go. We redesign it, build the moment, and rehearse it in the room. For speakers who want it finished.
You leave with a redesigned Signature Talk and a scripted participatory moment, ready for your next gig.
